Wellbeing @ Work

Presence, Positivity &
Purpose
The world of work is changing dramatically due to increased complexity and unpredictability and compounded by the stress of a prolonged pandemic.

The impact of this on our mental health at work is suggested by Harvard Business Review’s Beyond Burnt Outstudy:

·     62% experienced burnout more frequently in 2020

·      89% of people’s work life had worsened.

So how can you ensure that your working life is more about thriving than surviving? This mini-course explores how to use presence, positivity and purpose to infuse your workspace with wellbeing.

Session 1: Awareness@Work
The Power of Presence

Have you ever “woken up” in a meeting to someone calling your name out loud, and realised that you were miles away? Or maybe you recall the time you sat at your desk to do an hour’s prep for that important pitch, heard the ping of an email, decided to take a quick look and suddenly your colleague rings to say, “It’s 5 minutes to the pitch – where are you?”

Welcome to the 50% club! The science suggests that we are all, on average, distracted around half the time we spend working.  This session explores how to turn up, tune in and be fully aware at work.

Session 2: EQ@Work −The Power of Positivity (May 20th)

Do you work in an organisation that has a ‘zero tolerance’ policy on negativity, expecting you to be “professional” and repress any uncomfortable feelings? Or maybe your organisation is rife with gossip, criticism and blame? However, repressing and ignoring negativity neither generates positivity nor creates psychological safety.

Welcome to the 80% club! The science suggests that we are all naturally negative, critical and judgemental around 80% of the time we spend at work.  This session explores how to acknowledge, accept and utilise the full scope of your emotional intelligence, especially the uncomfortable stuff.

Session 3: Wellbeing@Work −Purpose-driven Performance (May 27th)

Most organisations today face constant unpredictability and continued, rapid change. Many focus on innovation, with regular makeovers, reshuffles and rapid iteration processes. Despite this, and the resulting stress and speed it generates, why does much remain the same, or change slowly?

Welcome to the 90% club! The science suggests that we all, on average, operate on “auto-pilot” −repeating the same thoughts, feelings and behaviour −around 90% of our time at work.  This is especially true when we have to work quickly and face constant change. This session explores how to play the “Inner Game”−to use presence and positivity to connect with purpose and infuse your work with creativity.
