The HerSpace Red Tent: Women. Menopause. Period (?)
May 31, 2021 @ 17:00 - 19:00 CEST
As women, as mothers, and as individuals, we are made of layers of emotions, feelings, thoughts, norms, ideas, and constructs. HerSpace was created to provide and nurture a space for us to express ourselves, share our stories, learn from each other and thrive as a collective.
In this spirit, we have designed a Red Tent series to air out seemingly “taboo” topics that are only spoken about in the shadows. In this series we are stepping away from the rabbit hole and dark corners of Google where we often find ourselves reading answers to questions no one talked to us about. In this series, no topic is out of reach, we will discuss sex, menstruation, our needs, wants and relationship with our bodies… you get the point.
The Red Tent movement, yes, we mean movement! is about creating spaces where women meet to share stories, validate their experiences, laugh, rest and awaken their senses.
The Red Tent series is a non-religious space that centers lived experiences of women and will be facilitated by the participants themselves.
Women. Menopause. Period (?)
Our first event in this series is fittingly, Menopause. One third of a woman’s life might be spent in menopause. Yet, many of us know very little about it. Sure, we have our varied assumptions, but are they right? Why is menopause still a seemingly taboo topic in our society? The lack of discussions about this natural part of our human experience often leads to confusion, stress, and misunderstandings. While people might have heard a joke or two about hot flashes and night sweats, they don’t realise how many other physical, mental and emotional changes menopause can bring. In our first Red Tent session, we invite three women to come and share their insights, opinions and experiences with us in a safe place where we can learn and support each other.
This session is relevant for every woman, whether you are just getting your period, a veteran or experiencing menopause.
This event is FREE for all, please RSVP below.
