Uncomfortable Conversations on Anti-Racism
May 20, 2021 @ 18:00 - 19:30 CEST
Doing the work means choosing to have Uncomfortable Conversations on Anti-Racism. We are renaming our series to better communicate how we create a space for you to learn, share and reflect with others on anti-racist work that will be hard, compassionate and so worth it.
Come to our session to learn and challenge yourself with the support of a community committed to anti-racism. The session is open for everybody, race, gender, ability and identity and no preparation is required.
Representation in the Media
News media in Norway is slowly wakening to new modes of portraying people of color, beyond stereotypes and the disproportional negative representations. But the job is not done. What are gatekeepers, like NRK, newspapers and popular tv shows are asking people of color to share in order to receive space in public?
While it is important to shed light on the difficulties that people of color experience in Norway, when does the portrayal and extraction of these stories benefit the platform more than the person or the cause they seek to address?
Come to our session to have an uncomfortable conversation on representation and story telling in the media.
Cost: 50NOK
