Doing the Work: A Space for White People Working Against Racism

December 17, 2020 @ 18:00 - 19:30 CET

Free – 100$

Doing the Work – When we say the wrong thing

I’ve done it, you’ve done it. We have all put our foot in our mouth on the subject of race. We will do so again, because we don’t have all the answers and we are not perfect. Doing the Work is a commitment to being vulnerable and learning from others. It can be really hard, but we turn back to it, because letting racism go unchecked is worse.

In our session we will share some of our foot-in-mouth examples and what we’ve learned from them. We’ll also explore the concepts of white guilt and centering of whiteness that often happen when those of us who are white are called out or in on our racism. The aim is to understand why we engage in these behaviors, and how we can think, act and respond in ways that address racism and not personal value.

Cost: NOK 100
