Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is imperative for a sustainable, competitive and innovative company and society at large. Diversity also goes beyond the outward perception of a company – it includes how the internal structures work and signal the value systems of an organization’s management or leadership team.

This series is designed by Diversify to centre Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace. We look forward to seeing you!

In our Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace session for October, we will discuss microaggressions and microaffirmations.

Microaggressions are defined as the everyday, subtle, intentional — and oftentimes unintentional — interactions or behaviors that communicate some sort of bias toward historically marginalized groups.

Micro-affirmations are small acknowledgment of another person’s value. It’s a subtle act of inclusion and kindness that goes a long way in building a culture of belonging.

This month we are getting practical with a workshop style session that provides you with tools to recognise and mitigate microaggressions!

We are thrilled to be collaborating with Jasmin Assulin, the CEO and Founder of deidei, a Finnish Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consultancy.

Together, Chisom, Nikki and Jasmin will lead you through a practical and engaging workshop that includes:

  • An introduction into Unconscious Bias and the relevance to Microaggressions
  • Exploration of Microaggressions:
    • What they are
    • How to identify them
  • Assessing Intent vs impact
  • Tips and tools on how to address Microaggressions through breakout room exercises and practical activities
  • Mitigation through Microaffirmations

This event is FREE to attend. Please register below to receive the zoom link.
