Barbara Bakker
Barbara started showing an interest in sewing at age 16, when she decided to cut into her jeans and t-shirts to create clothes that were different from what everyone else was wearing. Passionate about sewing and musicals, she studied Theatre Design in Amsterdam. After 8 years of working on many different West End musicals, she decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to the UK.
She started her own sewing business RockingStitch in 2012 to spread the joy of making your own clothes and to teach as many people as possible that sewing machines aren’t as scary as they seem! Since then Barbara taught hundreds of people how to sew, she’s been writing and creating creative content in the sewing industry, she was featured in several sewing magazines, she started a YouTube channel, and she designed a must-have sewing tool: the Seamstress Gauge.
