Art Therapy: Creative Self-Expression Through Collage
December 19, 2020 @ 14:00 - 16:00 CET
400krArt Therapy: Collage session by Madara Miezite.
In this collage session, we will boost our imagination and fill our minds with creative self expression to challenge yourself and use collage-making as a guided meditation. The collage session will allow us to express our creativity. Together, we will craft a unique composition using various materials, colors, textures, images, texts, etc.
During the lesson, we will dive into the process of creation with an opportunity to learn skills in creating analog collages and learn the secrets of how to create an expressive composition of images. We will connect through the process, celebrate the ups and downs of life, and find community in supporting each other.
Madara will tell us about the types and techniques of collages, materials, the creation process, tips, and tricks: composition methods, complement figures, colors, textures, and expressing your feelings in collages. These methods encouraged her during challenging times and she wants to share her knowledge to help us through the dark winter days, hustle around the holidays and isolations during this pandemic.
This analog collage session will be divided into two parts – the first part will consist of two warm-up tasks that will help you to wake up your creativity and creative mind, but in the second part of the session, we will go deeper into the process of creation, we will explore the process from idea to result.
The overall philosophy for this session is to try, explore, improvise, and allow yourself to free your mind from stress and overwhelm in the world around you. After this session, we will be explore how meditation through art can create space for your mind and allow for creativity.
All materials will be provided and refreshments will be served.

About Madara:
Madara Miezite is the creator of analog collages. She considers herself a beginner in the wide art world. She finds inspiration in a wide variety of places constantly observing surroundings, but her true inspiration is women’s strength, emotions, expressions, passions, personalities, movements, and the connection with the inner being. Her style is modern, colorful, clean, feminine, and diverse, always evolving and growing.
Madara truly believes that the creative process is like a meditation and healing during which it is possible to allow the imagination to break down boundaries, to set ourselves free, and create something original and meaningful.
The collages she creates are like a call to the imagination, to be curious, to see more, to go deeper, to feel and be in the moment. She creates stories that are conveyed through the deformation and combination of images, colors, textures, and details. All elements lead to interactions, which results in a message and a story, but sometimes just in feelings and emotions without any story behind.
She has mastered the basic techniques, theories, and practice of collage making by individually attending classes with a graphic designer, illustrator, and collage maker Linda Gobeta, as well as she is constantly improving herself and practically working by training in collage making, from her home studio. One of the first and biggest achievements is a specially designed collage collection for HerSpace.
